Our Program:

program's name: Nonprofit Self-portrait

responsible: Ferenc Hegyes

description:

Program objective:

To update the Nonprofit Self-portrait database with new organizational information and to increase its usability. The Nonprofit Self-portrait is a constantly growing, updated, searchable and public database, which provides detailed information about the non-profit organizations included, for the sake of transparency. The database is used by companies looking for organizations to sponsor, individuals intending to donate, foundations and associations searching partners for co-operation and researchers or anyone interested in the Hungarian non-profit area.

Duration:

The Nonprofit Self-portrait database was created in 1996 and it has been regularly updated and expanded since. Beside the annual data forms, the database is being constantly updated via the Internet. The organizational information from 2007 has been updated at the beginning of 2008 thanks to the program’s sponsors.

Achievements:

The number of online registrations has significantly increased, and many organizations have changed their existing data online. Postal registration has decreased. News about the organizations  is included among their other information. The built-in search engines offer multiple search methods  for the given organization and the connection to relevant news makes the database “more effective” by increasing its usability. The connection between other databases within the portal and the  NIOK’s central, office information system offers more meaningful, combined information.

Assessment:

The Self-portrait database has grown this year with information about a further 500 organizations added (11,700 at the beginning and 12,200 at the  of the year, 2007). The information available about participating organizations has also increased. During the peak period (the 1% campaign), 60-67,000 users searched the database daily. .
